WHEN THE STAY BECOMES THE STORY

THE ORRYN LODGE from Pinelog transforms the park landscape with a striking roofline and an inviting, experience-led design. With thoughtful design inside and out, The Orryn encourages guests to relax, socialise and create lasting memories in every season.

The increasing importance of experiential holiday park accommodation…

Holiday park accommodation is no longer a functional backdrop to a break away. It now shapes how guests relax, socialise and remember their stay. Comfort, design quality and usable space increasingly influence booking decisions and revenue.

The Orryn, the latest lodge design from Pinelog, has been developed in direct response to guest demand for memorable, experience-led accommodation. Rather than focusing solely on the internal layout, the design treats the lodge as a complete living environment, inside and out.

A defining feature is its projecting roofline. Architecturally, it creates a strong visual identity on park. Practically, it transforms external decking into a sheltered, year-round living and entertaining space. The extended roof projection provides protection for hot tubs, seating and dining areas, and can even accommodate a sauna, allowing operators to add premium features that remain usable in all seasons.

Like all lodges in the Pinelog range, The Orryn benefits from a fully bespoke approach. Layouts can be adapted to suit different guest profiles and park strategies, with options including integrated saunas, games rooms, accessibility features and pet-friendly additions.

These reflect growing demand for wellness, entertainment and multi-generational stays, while helping parks differentiate their offer and increase per-stay revenue. As experiential travel continues to shape the holiday park sector, Pinelog’s bespoke offering continues to lead the way in helping park operators move their accommodation into a central part of the guest experience, delivering stronger appeal and long-term commercial value. PRESENTING THE ORRYN, PINELOG’S LATEST LODGE DESIGN

Pinelog has unveiled its latest addition to its luxury lodge collection – The Orryn – a bold new design concept that combines the company’s hallmark quality, sustainability and longevity with a strikingly contemporary aesthetic.

‘The Orryn takes its name from roots grounded in a deep connection to the natural world, while also carrying a subtle nod to ‘ore’, reflecting the lodge’s seamless blend of metal and wood.’ With its fusion of natural timber and a standing seam metal wrap, The Orryn offers a head-turning façade combined with a stylish interior.

The Orryn boasts a projecting roofline which provides both architectural impact and practical shelter, transforming the external decking into a year-round living space. The seamless transition between walls and roof elevates the look even further, creating a lodge that is as stylish as it is functional. Inside, the design continues to impress.

Open-plan living is cleverly zoned with a central media unit, offering flexibility for both social and private spaces. The new concept lodge was created in partnership with industry designer Lloyd Harden and complements Pinelog’s existing lodge portfolio.

The Orryn’s combination of metal and timber cladding detail underlines its dual focus on style and durability, while a glass balustrade and extended roof projection provides protection for hot tub and seating areas. Designed to be as Instagram-worthy as it is resilient, the lodge appeals to park operators seeking properties that stand out and drive sales.

Like all Pinelog lodges, the Orryn can be adapted to meet individual park requirements, from layout and bedroom numbers to the inclusion of utility spaces and enhanced accessibility features. The Orryn now joins Pinelog’s established lodge range, which includes the Woodsman, Vista, Skyline, Skyline View, Coppice, Essence, New England and Glade, all of which are sited on parks and private land across the UK.

Judy Barwell, Sales Manager at Pinelog, said: “As with every lodge we sell, customers can tailor them to exactly what they need – inside and out. The Orryn is a brilliant new design that reflects Pinelog’s commitment to quality, style and luxury. Most importantly, it delivers everything today’s holidaymaker want from their accommodation.”

POWERING PARK GROWTH

Park owners stay one step ahead thanks to dedicated supplier network...

Ask any delegate what the biggest takeaway has been from the annual Hoseasons Owners Conference over the last few years and one message is likely to come back loud and clear - invest in hot tubs! What started as a ‘nice to have’ for a few early adopters has become a total game changer for savvy owners looking to attract more guests to their park, command higher rental rates and maximise their returns.

In the first half of this year lodges and holiday homes with hot tubs in the Hoseasons portfolio achieved a 52% higher Average Weekly Rate (AWR) than those without. No wonder then that the brand has seen a 30% increase in the number of units adding hot tubs – an evergreen asset with relatively low CapEx and OpEx requirements, where perceived customer value clearly outweighs actual costs to install and maintain.

Always attractive to a broad demographic, including couples, families and groups of friends, hot tubs are also becoming increasingly popular with guests embracing hot and cold water contrast therapy as part of the ever-growing trend for wellness tourism - especially when paired with ice baths, saunas and covered pergolas to extend year-round appeal.

So… investing in hot tubs is a ‘no brainer’, but while knowing ‘what’ to do to capitalise on a market trend is one thing, knowing ‘how’ to do it is another matter. That’s why Hoseasons offers Hoseasons Connect – a strategic partner network of trusted suppliers offering nearly everything a new or existing holiday or lodge park might need to start from scratch, innovate or future-proof their location.

LAUNCHED IN 2022, THE HOSEASONS Connect network currently offers one-stop-shop access to more than 20 reputable suppliers. Picture courtesy of the Yorkshire Spa Retreat.

Launched in 2022, the network currently offers one-stop-shop access to more than 20 reputable suppliers including providers of accommodation, hot tubs, outdoor living equipment, park management software, housekeeping services, access controls, interior furnishings, architecture and design, insurance, print and signage, capital allowances and training services (including hot tub maintenance!).

More than 100 leads have been generated for network members in the last two-and-a-half years, with accommodation owners seeing a wide range of benefits from dealing with experts in their field, including Jacuzzi and Pinelog.

Miles Dewhurst, CEO at Yorkshire Spa Retreat – part of Hoseasons’ Magnificent Collection, works with Hoseasons Connect partners 1 Stop Spas and Leisure and Rix Leisure (Victory Leisure Homes and Prestige Lodges).

He says: “The real added value you get from being able to access the Hoseasons Connect community is not just the products and services themselves, it’s also the insights and innovations these trusted suppliers bring to the table that mean you’re always aware of what’s driving the market, and what might be the next big thing before investing in growth.”

HOSEASONS CONNECT gives owners access to expert suppliers like 1 Stop Spas, Omar Lodges, and HLF Group.

Phil Mackay, Director of Hire Fleet at Raywell Hall Country Lodges – Hoseasons’ current Best in Britain for lodges and parks - is also a big advocate of Hoseasons Connect and has a longstanding relationship with accommodation supplier Omar Lodges. He says: “We realised a long time ago that competitive advantage comes from constantly innovating to stay one step ahead of the rest, and that means working with the best partners along the way.

The fact Hoseasons has brought all these suppliers together in one network is not only incredibly helpful for parks like us, it also very clearly demonstrates their commitment to helping us grow both our income and profitability.” David Hall, Head of Commercial Strategy and Transformation at Northumbrian Water – the parent company of Kielder Waterside – is also a fan of the network.

Working closely with accommodation suppliers Oakgrove Lodges and furniture suppliers HLF Group, he says: “The most important thing about any supplier is that they understand your business. Both Oakgrove and HLF deliver exceptional quality and service and come with a reassuring Hoseasons seal of approval.”

All new owners joining the Hoseasons portfolio are invited to access the Hoseasons Connect community and take advantage of a range of key business contacts, promotional material, discounted rates and other benefits.

Paul Shoebridge, Business Development Director at Awaze – the parent company of Hoseasons – says: “We want to do everything we can to give our owners the best chance of maximising their ROI. Hoseasons Connect brings together the best suppliers in the business so that small family-run operations to large corporate parks can make informed choices about the best way to future proof their customer offer.” For more information about Hoseasons Connect, or to request a digital prospectus please get in touch.

PINELOG WELCOMES NEW PRODUCTION MANAGER

DARRELL FISHER - PINELOG

Chesterfield-based luxury timber lodge manufacturer Pinelog has appointed Darrell Fisher as its new Production Manager.

Bringing 34 years of experience in the holiday home, lodge, and motorhome sectors, Darrell previously worked at Swift Group Ltd, one of the UK’s largest leisure vehicle manufacturers. He started as an apprentice cabinet maker and advanced to Senior Production Manager, gaining expertise in manufacturing, production management, and process improvement.

Darrell was drawn to Pinelog’s vision for growth, saying: “The timing was perfect. When I spoke with Craig Morrison, Pinelog’s Operations Director, I knew this was the right opportunity. The company’s commitment to quality craftsmanship stood out immediately.”

In his new role, Darrell will oversee the transition from design to production, improve manufacturing processes, and ensure customer satisfaction. He is eager to modernise production while preserving Pinelog’s heritage of skilled, hands-on craftsmanship.

Group Chairman Nick Grayson welcomed Darrell, stating: “His wealth of experience and process-driven mindset will help take our manufacturing to the next level.” With nearly 50 years in the industry, Pinelog is known for its high-quality lodges, found in award-winning holiday parks such as Kelling Heath, Darwin Forest, and Mercia Marina.

PINELOG’S LUXURY ACCESSIBLE LODGES FOR PARKS

Pinelog specialises in crafting luxury timber lodges tailored to the unique requirements of holiday parks, making them an excellent choice for facilities that need high-quality, accessible accommodations for less mobile guests and wheelchair users.

Dovestone Holiday Park has been a valued client of Pinelog for the past decade, benefiting from their luxury lodges. Nestled in the picturesque village of Greenfield in Saddleworth, the park enjoys a prime location adjacent to the stunning Peak District National Park.

Thanks to its luxurious lodgings and exceptional guest experiences, Dovestone Holiday Park proudly holds a five-star rating on TripAdvisor. “At Dovestone Park, we take pride in our customer service and aim to provide all our guests with a worry-free experience.

This commitment aligns with our mission to create a safe haven for those with accessibility needs,” said Sally Buckley, General Manager of Dovestone Holiday Park. With limited accessible accommodation options in the area, Dovestone is dedicated to providing an outstanding experience for all guests.

In 2023, they approached Pinelog to create their first two-bedroom accessible lodge. With guests already lined up for the inaugural stay, the urgency was clear in designing and delivering this much-anticipated accessible lodge for Dovestone Holiday Park.

Great Expectations

Great Expectations

Switched on holiday park operators must step up to the perpetual plate of not just meeting but exceeding guest expectations.

Quality accommodation, combined with flexible booking and strong availability, is not just recommended – it is imperative. From top-end lodges to more value-based options, holidaymakers aren’t just happy to be away on holiday any more – they demand much, much more than they have at home.

In a bid to stay ahead in a highly competitive market, the drive towards high quality holiday accommodation, over the last two decades, has seen real innovation in the holiday park and lodge sector, as developers and manufacturers strive to innovate.

While there is no doubt that lodges have a higher capital cost than traditional caravans, the higher return on investment can be considerable.  As a starter for ten; cabins and lodges attract longer let periods than caravans, typically being very popular in the ‘harder to let’ shoulder months outside the peak season. On the flip side, because of this extended season, it is imperative that lodges are well-built and insulated.

Pinelog has been manufacturing lodges for more than 30 years. The company produces lodges well in excess of BS3632:2015, which translates into trouble-free ownership and low running costs for its customers.

“As manufacturers and operators of two award-winning parks of our own, we have a unique insight into what makes a good holiday lodge, both from the holidaymaker and park owner’s point of view,” explains Pinelog’s Paula Skelton. “Our warm and hard-wearing timber interiors are perfect for low maintenance holiday letting."

Recognising the increasing demand for high quality holiday lodge parks in the UK, the Omar Group has recently launched a new franchise opportunity for landowners to create their own holiday lodge park. Through the Boutique Lodges, Holidays by Omar franchise, owners will be guided by the expertise of the Omar Franchising team to provide high quality holiday accommodation and service levels to holiday makers, from site development to park operations.

Using a business franchise model, which provides a blueprint covering every aspect of running a business, the owners will benefit from an increased likelihood of success for their new park venture, particularly when compared to new entrants in the market looking to start up independently.

Franchise owners will have exclusive access to two websites, which will help them to run a successful business. The public facing website will sell all the features and benefits of their holiday park, driving visitors and bookings. The second website, dedicated to franchise owners, will provide essential operational information and access to a valuable expert panel of suppliers and services. Meanwhile the Boutique Lodges partnership with Hoseasons will provide a personal approach, offering expert advice and support every step of the way, helping to develop a product offering that maximises each owner’s investment.

Cotswolds Holiday Park Expands Leisure Facilities

Cotswolds Holiday Park Expands Leisure Facilities

The new social complex at Leedons Holiday Park offers visitors and residents additional recreational facilities.

Caravan park operator Allens Caravans has recently invested in a new state-of-the-art indoor swimming pool and social complex at Leedons Holiday Park in the Cotswolds.
Disused buildings on the holiday park site were demolished to make way for the new facility, which includes a 15m x 6m indoor swimming pool and changing rooms, a large social hall area and a hair studio.
The project was carried out by Derbyshire based pool and commercial building specialists Pinelog, who proposed a contemporary yet practical design of a timber frame building that folds into the landscape. The almost symmetrical, low profile structure, has two main wings housing the swimming pool and hall with separate mono-pitched roofs over the wings and central part of the building.
Pinelog also applied a number of sustainable design and energy efficient features to the leisure centre. In addition to the timber frame and larch cladding being constructed from sustainably produced materials, the building also includes solar roof panels, natural ventilation, extensive use of natural light, heat recovery from the extract ventilation, low energy lighting and recycling the swimming pool water.
