HIGHLAND CALVES HELP DRIVE BOOKINGS

MEET EDDIE AND DEAN, Lynmouth Holiday Retreat’s newly christened cows with a Highland heritage

A light-hearted social media competition has delivered serious business benefits for Lynmouth Holiday Retreat, with the North Devon holiday park reporting a surge in summer bookings after inviting the public to name its two new Highland calves.

The five-star holiday park, overlooking Lynmouth on the edge of Exmoor, launched the competition after its family owners were unable to agree on names for the popular pair. The campaign offered a complimentary holiday as the prize and attracted thousands of views and entries across social media.

The winning names, Eddie and Dean, were chosen as a tribute to the Scottish cities of Edinburgh and Aberdeen, celebrating the calves’ Highland heritage. The prize was awarded to Helen Peers and her son Ollie from Leicester, who will enjoy a stay in one of the park’s Stargazer Geo Domes.

Park director Ian James said the campaign had significantly raised the profile of the business, helping boost bookings ahead of the peak summer season. He added that many families have specifically asked whether they will be able to meet Eddie and Dean during their visit.

The campaign highlights how creative, low-cost marketing initiatives can increase engagement, generate online visibility and help holiday parks strengthen bookings by creating memorable experiences that extend beyond traditional accommodation and facilities.

GIVE YOUR PARK A LIFT

For more value from your transport choice, the STAR Capella 2-HCX Lifted is a versatile option for holiday parks. It serves equally as a people carrier and a work machine. Seating two with ample luggage space and with a towing capacity of 320kg and cargo box payload of 150kg means it gets the work done.

Being a ‘lifted’ model means it stands at 170mm off the ground giving it great off-road capabilities and meaning it suits most surfaces and hilly sites. It comfortably delivers up to 80 miles on a full charge and can be charged to full overnight.

And there’s no fear of ‘range anxiety’ as it’s really easy to tell via the app what the battery life is so there’s no chance of ever getting caught out no matter how big your site. But there’s no need to take just our word for it, Three Cliffs Bay, a five-star holiday park, in Gower, Wales, has one for its 52-acre cliff land site where it quickly established its reputation for quiet motoring and a productive performance.

Specifically, it is being used for off road carrying situations and gardening jobs and owner Tom Beynon says: “This machine proved very quickly that it could take on all the tasks we needed it to. The big, strong cargo area at the back and the fact that we can add a trailer means it’s an essential part of our gardening arsenal.”

With zero emissions and very low noise, the work day doesn’t interrupt the customers’ holiday, early work schedules or operations near the caravans, glamping, camping and yurts at the venue. With a comprehensive warranty: two-years bumper to bumper on the vehicle, four years on the chassis and six-year limited warranty on the lithium battery, a STAR people carrier is a safe and reliable choice.
