Family Holiday Donation

Diverse AbilitiesHoburne Holiday Parks has given away a family holiday to encourage ticket sales for a local charity raffle. Diverse Abilities presented the winning holiday to Nick Bold, who works for the charity, for selling the most raffle tickets for a prize draw.

His prize is a holiday for up to six people at any of Hoburne’s seven holiday parks in Hampshire, Dorset, Devon, Somerset, the Cotswolds and Cornwall.

Nick says he plans to give the holiday to a friend. Diverse Abilities is the only organisation that supports children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities, and their families, in Dorset.

Hoburne2495.jpgHoburne Holiday Parks is investing £6million in a programme of company-wide developments. All seven of Hoburne’s holiday parks across the south-west of England are set to be enhanced.

The improvements will include new-look entertainment leisure complexes, and new holiday accommodation at three parks, free Wi-Fi across all of its seven parks, and will ensure an improved customer experience for all visitors from March; when the parks open for the 2016 holiday season.

The largest investment is at Hoburne Naish in Dorset, Hoburne Bashley in Hampshire, and Hoburne Cotswold in Gloucestershire, where each of these three parks will have £1million spent on creating a new-look entertainment and leisure complex, complete with new interior décor and contemporary furniture and fittings.

Managing director of Hoburne, Rod Tucker, commented: “The huge investment that we are currently making is testament to our commitment to setting new standards across the industry and to our goal of exceeding our customer’s expectations."

Evaporation control within the pool hall remains a challenge for many pool operators. While a pool cover will insulate your pool to a degree, it is the slowdown in evaporation that is key to saving money.

It is estimated that a pool running at 55% humidity with a pool temperature of 30C and an air temperature of 31C will lose approximately 2 cubic metres of water per day with no cover in place.

Heatsavr biodegrades naturally into water and carbon dioxide within 72 hours and can be added to any type of pool. Using Heatsavr will not stop evaporation, but it will certainly slow the rate of evaporation, working in conjunction with an effective dehumidification and ventilation system.

“One of our clients has been closely monitoring their water top up following a Heatsavr installation and reports that they are now saving 20m3 of water per month,” reveals Peter Marshall of Brenntag.

“The first obvious saving relates to the water top up required and not only in the cost of the additional water but more so in the energy required to raise the temperature of the incoming water to that of the pool.”

Heatsavr has saved Hoburne Holiday Parks thousands of pounds on pool heating costs at the Devon Bay resort.

Hoburne Holiday Parks has saved thousands of pounds on its gas bills, following the introduction of Heatsavr liquid pool cover in the indoor pool at its site in Torbay.

Heatsavr was first used at the park in 2011, in a bid to reduce the gas consumption used to maintain the temperature of the pool and the humidity within the pool hall. Results from an independent analysis by EEVS, the UK’s leading provider of performance measurement and verification services for energy, reveal that Heatsavr has reduced gas usage at the park by 21.7 per cent, the equivalent of £4,500 cost saving per year.

Heatsavr, the original liquid pool cover, was first introduced to the UK leisure industry almost a decade ago. Many commercial pool operators and domestic owners have adopted the technology and enjoyed considerable energy savings, as well as the benefit of a simple pool cover system that works 24 hours a day.

Heatsavr works by slowing evaporation from the pool’s surface. The Heatsavr monolayer spreads across the water and traps energy and moisture within the pool. In an indoor pool, energy savings relate not only to pool water heating but also to the ability to turn down the dehumidification system due to the reduced evaporation.

“For pool managers who are in control of expenditure where the pool itself has limited controls, using Heatsavr may feel like a leap of faith as the energy savings may not be easily extracted,” says Peter Marshall of Brenntag UK. The product is odourless, tasteless and completely invisible, tempting pool managers to wonder if it is working at all.

“But pool managers should have confidence in these findings and recognise that whilst invisible, Heatsavr continues to work throughout the day and night, saving energy and enabling them to focus on other cost saving initiatives within their site.”

Peter adds: “In providing customers with the independent analysis that they have been seeking, we hope to be able to deliver energy saving benefits and ultimately, peace of mind, to a greater number of commercial operators across the UK.”
